Do's and Dont's

Do’s

  • Al maintenance / repair / Installations activities have to be carried out by trained technicians familiar with handling Batteries and UPS systems.
  • Always wear appropriate personal protection equipment while working on the batteries and UPS system.
  • Move the UPS system always an upright position in its original package to the final destination site.
  • If the UPS system is moved directly from cold to warm environment. The UPS system must be absolutely dry before being installed. Please allow at least two hours for the UPS system to dry out the moisture.
  • Check for sufficient floor and elevator loading capacity before place the UPS & Batteries.
  • Place / Install the UPS system and batteries always in dry and clean area because it’s operates with hazardous voltages.
  • Use insulated tools while working on the UPS & batteries to prevent accidental short circuit and consequent damage.
  • When working with batteries & repairing UPS, remove watches, rings or other metal objects, and only use insulated tools
  • Check the UPS systems & Batteries carefully any transit damage, If you notice visible damage, do not install or start the UPS system & Batteries. Contact the nearest Service Centre immediately.
  • Even after the unit is disconnected from the mains, components inside the UPS system are still connected to the battery packs which are potentially dangerous.
  • Before carrying out any kind of service and/or maintenance, disconnect the batteries and verify that no current is present and no hazardous voltage exists in the terminals of high capability capacitor such as BUS-capacitors. Allow 5 minutes for the DC capacitors to discharge.
  • When replace the batteries, install the same number and same type of batteries.
  • Earth connection is essential before connecting to AC input supply.
  • Store the UPS system with original package in a dry location; storage temperature must be within -25°C (-13°F) to +55C (131°F).
  • The optimal temperature for Battery storage is 20°C (68°F) to 25°C (77°F) and shall never exceed the range - The UPS systems must be stored in the room where it is ventilated and dry

Dont’s

  • Avoid allowing non-trained person to operate / maintenance of Batteries and UPS systems.
  • To lift the cabinets, use a forklift or lifting belts with spreader bars
  • Do not install the UPS system near water or in moist environments.
  • Do not install the UPS system where it would be exposed to direct sunlight or nearby heater.
  • Do not install the UPS system under air conditioner to avoid spilling water dropping on the UPS.
  • Do not block ventilation holes in the UPS & Batteries housing.
  • Do not connect appliances or devices which would overload the UPS (e.g. big motor-type equipment)) to the UPS output sockets or terminal.
  • Do not disconnect the earth conductor cable on the UPS or the building wiring terminals in any time since this would cancel the protective earth of the UPS system and of all connected loads.
  • Do not attempt to dispose of batteries by burning them. This could cause battery explosion. The batteries must be rightly deposed according to local regulation.
  • Do not open or destroy batteries. Escaping electrolyte can cause injury to the skin and eyes. It may be toxic.
  • Do not remove covers, there are no user serviceable parts inside.
  • Never short-circuit the batteries.
  • When working with batteries, remove watches, rings or other metal objects, and only use insulated tools
